A practical workflow for Shopify partially fulfilled orders

Partial fulfillment is normal when items ship from different locations. It needs attention when the remaining work exceeds your agreed deadline.

Check what is still outstanding

Start in Shopify and inspect the remaining fulfillment work. Do not assume a tracking number for one shipment covers every item in the order. Location-specific deadlines can help separate different warehouse commitments.

Be explicit about the clock

FulfillCue measures partial-order age from order creation or a later scheduled fulfillment date—not from the first shipment. Set the partial deadline with that behavior in mind, and exclude intentional preorders.

Record the handoff

An owner label and a short note can make a shift change easier: which location is responsible, what is blocking dispatch, and when someone should follow up. Keep customer contact information out of free-text notes.

Close the case, not the Shopify order

Handling an exception in FulfillCue only updates the local case. Any fulfillment, cancellation, tracking update, or refund must be completed in Shopify. A successful scan can also clear a case when the current policy no longer flags it.
